Transition into Middle School

We strongly believe that, by making the transition from Grade 5 to Middle School as seamless as possible, we can maintain the excellent progress made by the children in the Primary Years. We take extensive measures to ensure that our Grade 5 children leave us feeling comfortable and confident with their transition to Middle School.

Towards the end of the academic year, the Grade 5 children spend a working week in Middle School in order to familiarise themselves with the new systems, logistical procedures and expectations. They keep a transition diary which is then used to analyse gaps in the transition process. Children who intend to become boarders are given the opportunity to spend some nights in the Junior Boys and Girls House to familiarise themselves with sleeping on campus.
