At TISB we recognise that a successful student is one who is happy, healthy and feels supported by those around them.

The physical and mental health and all-round wellbeing of all students is taken very seriously at TISB. We are consistently reviewing the systems and structures in place to ensure that they are the best they can be. Our PSHME programme, covering social and emotional issues, is in place for all students in Grades 6 - 9 and every student is supported by a hierarchical system to allow them every opportunity to talk or confide in a member of staff, should they need to.

Form Tutors

Form Tutors will see their students every day and will usually be a first point of contact during the school day. Form Tutors have a role in monitoring students' attendance, academic progress and personal wellbeing.

Grade Coordinators

Coordinators will be the first point of contact for both students and parents should there be any concerns academically or pastorally. They will oversee grade levels and communicate regularly with the Form Tutors.

Deputy Principal (Pastoral)

The Deputy Principal (Pastoral) leads the school’s efforts in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students. Their role focuses on student welfare, pastoral care, and holistic development. They work closely with form tutors, boarding parents, school nurses, grade coordinators, counsellors, and parents to ensure that every student feels valued and supported, both academically and emotionally. The Deputy Principal (Pastoral) oversees policies related to student well-being, behaviour, and discipline, and ensures that the school’s values of respect, empathy, and integrity are upheld in daily life.

School Counselors

School Counsellors play a vital role in supporting the emotional, social, and psychological well-being of students. They provide a safe and confidential space for students to share concerns, explore challenges, and build coping strategies. Counsellors assist with academic pressures, personal growth, peer relationships, and mental health needs. They also collaborate with teachers, boarding parents and parents to create awareness programs, preventive interventions, and guidance sessions, ensuring that students are nurtured in a caring and balanced environment.

Well-being Prefects

The Well-being Prefects are a student-led body dedicated to promoting positivity, kindness, and mental well-being within the school community. Serving as peer leaders, they act as a bridge between students and the pastoral team by raising awareness, encouraging inclusivity, and organizing initiatives that support a healthy school culture. Their responsibilities include advocating for student voice, modelling empathy and respect, supporting anti-bullying and anti-vaping efforts, and leading campaigns or events that strengthen the school’s commitment to overall well-being.

Counselling Interns

The Counselling Interns form an important part of the Well-being Department. Under the guidance of the school counsellors, interns contribute by assisting in awareness programs, helping with student engagement activities, and supporting day-to-day well-being initiatives. They bring fresh perspectives, creativity, and enthusiasm to the department while gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field of school counselling. Their role enhances the department’s capacity to provide meaningful care and support to students.
