Pastoral Care
At TISB we recognise that a successful student is one who is happy, healthy and feels supported by those around them.
The physical and mental health and all round wellbeing of all students is taken very seriously at TISB. We are consistently reviewing the systems and structures in place to ensure that they are the best they can be. Our PSHME programme, covering social and emotional issues, is in place for all students in Grades 6 - 9 and every student is supported by a hierarchical system to allow them every opportunity to talk or confide in a member of staff, should they need to.
Form Tutors
Form Tutors will see their students every day and will usually be a first point of contact during the school day. Form Tutors have a role in monitoring students' attendance, academic progress and personal wellbeing.
Coordinators
Coordinators will be the first point of contact for both students and parents should there be any concerns academically or pastorally. They will oversee grade levels and communicate regularly with the Form Tutors.
Deputy Principal (Pastoral)
The Deputy Principal (Pastoral) has the overall responsibility for the health and wellbeing of each of our students.
Student Welfare Officer and School Counsellor
The Coordinator of Student Welfare is a full-time member of staff who liaises closely with the academic staff and boarding staff to prevent and manage pastoral issues among both day and boarding students.
The School Counsellor visits the school to offer students a chance to speak to an outside body on a confidential basis.
Peer Support Group (PSG)
The Peer Support Group (PSG) was formed by our senior student body to offer all students a confidential listening ear. It is not a counselling service, but somewhere to go when things get difficult - when you feel as if no one cares, or you have no voice. The PSG Group is not here to provide answers, nor solutions. They are not counsellors, but 'Peer Mentors' - someone from the school who is there to listen to students and support them, no matter what the difficulty. You are NOT alone.
