Former TISB Student is back to Play Football in Goa
Born in Delhi, raised in Manila, TISB student in Bangalore, and Madrid trained footballer, Ishan Pandita, is back in India and have signed with the FC Goa. The newly returned midfielder has been tipped by many as the future of Indian football, and as someone who can be an example for younger players in India. We at TISB feel the same, and hope that our students can be inspired in their sporting ambitions.
After spending six years in Spain, playing football in different clubs, time has finally come for the 22 year old former TISB student to come back to India. After finding it hard to bear the professional hardship and finding a club in Spain because of issues related to COVID-19 in the country, Ishan found it was his time to return to India.
At the age of three, Ishan’s family moved from Delhi to the capital of the Philippines, Manila. It was here that he got interested in football and joined the local football club. In 2009 his family relocated again, this time to Bangalore, where Ishan became a student at TISB. During his time in Bangalore Ishan went to Gothia Cup in Sweden at the age of 15, where he was offered a trial period for a Swedish club and their U-17 team. However, his parents were not flattered by the idea of sending their son to a cold and dark country. Instead, in 2014, when Ishan got the opportunity to go to sunny Spain and a team in Madrid, his parents were onboard and he left Bangalore the year after.
Since his move to Spain, Ishan has been playing the Spanish third tier, before signing a deal with FC Goa, one of the top-division clubs in India. We are very exited to have a former TISB student back on Indian soil, and to be able to watch him closely this and upcoming seasons.
