TISB Alumni - Anisha Srinivasan
Anisha Srinivasan is a TISB Alumni who graduated from TISB in 2013. She has since attended the globally recognised Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music in the United States. At the University she was able to dive deep into areas of her choice, classical music, and had some of the best teachers and coaches in the world. For about four years, since her University graduation, Anisha has been working and performing in the field, visiting several cities around the world as part of concerts and opera. “One of my recent operas was in New York – a production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflote”, says Anisha who also currently is part of the vocal faculty in the AR Rahman Conservatory in Chennai.
Music has always been Anisha’s passion. She did music in the IGCSE at TISB, something that she considered being very enjoyable, with areas like music analysis, composition studies and more. Recently she has set up her own company and launched an Instagram account, @ariabyanisha – a page about music, vocal techniques, fun facts and history, some performance videos, and workshops and webinars. “Aria by Anisha is my dream come true”, says Anisha and explains that having her own company in music is magical because it lets her spread her knowledge and passion for music with other people.
Anisha explains that the company is groundbreaking: “There aren’t too many (western) classical musicians in India, and I think its because more resources are required to make it a more known form of art.” The Instagram profile is a holistic image of what Aria is all about “it has tips on vocal technique, my performances and practice sessions, fun facts about composers to make the area of classical music fun and interesting for people, and much more”, says Anisha and explains that the site is for anyone who is willing to check it out. “Classical music is always looked at as 'snobby', 'old', and 'kind of boring'. Its not!”, she continues and explains that she is aiming to get the word out and to spark interest in educational art for everyone.
