TISB Alumni - Rushil Grover
Rushil Grover graduated from TISB and the IB Diploma Program in 2009. Since then he has studied Management in Bangalore, and after graduating moved to the United States to work with Google. Today he is living in California, where he still works for Google. We reached out to Rushil to find out more about his journey from TISB to where he is today.
I owe a lot to the holistic development TISB had on my life and career. It also gave me friends and relationships that I am sure will last me a lifetime – Rushil Grover, TISB Alumni
Rushil is a Product Manager on the Search Ads team at Google, where he has been working for about eight years. “I love it! Once you get over the company perks – which are amazing – the best thing about Google is the people you work with”, says Rushil, stressing the collaborative and open working environment at Google, which makes for a great and conducive learning environment.
When graduating from TISB, Rushil wanted to move to the US to study Computer Science, but due to family reasons, he remained in Bangalore and studied Management Studies at the Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics in Bangalore. This turned out to be a very fruitful move, explains Rushil. “Since I was familiar with it from my time at TISB, it turned out to be a good decision since things that I learned within finance, marketing and operations came into use in my day-to-day working as a Product Manager”.
Once he completed his bachelor program in Management, Rushil got an express ticket to his dream job in the US. “Google actually came to my College and hired me off-campus”, says Rushil. His expertise in digital marketing and advertising has also allowed him to consult and help small to medium businesses with their online strategy, having been forced to move digitally due to COVID-19.
Working with computers has always been a dream for Rushil, who loved Computer Science at TISB. His Extended Essay was based on how to overclock a PC in the Computer Lab. As Grade 12 students are in the middle of their exam period, Rushil expresses the importance for students to do their best and to try to find a college or university to study what they enjoy.
“I've learned that these things can help define your career but not necessarily determine it – so try to have fun and make memories while you are all still together. The memories you make at school are what you and your TISB friends are going to talk about years from now”.
