Digi-Ed - Democratising Education for All
Digi-Ed is an initiative started by Krish, TISB Grade 9 student, to collect and refurbish old phones, as well as buying new phones to distribute to underprivileged children so that they can continue their digital learning process during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Krish and the team behind Digi-Ed aims at collecting used phones and after this help students adjust to the new online learning environment, as well as providing supplemental classes to underprivileged Government school children as and when needed. Krish says that: "This will directly benefit underprivileged students and teachers of government schools. Indirectly, it will affect their communities and parents."
The overall aim of Digi-Ed is to allow children in public schools to have greater goals and achieve success. To begin with the objectives are to equip at least one class of students with devices for learning, and at the same time creating lessons and helpful content explaining the college admission process. Because of the ongoing COVID-19, the medium of instruction will be mostly digital. "In order to collect, purchase and distribute the devices - a safe delivery services will be hired", Krish says.
Once the launch is done, there are plans to expand the Digi-Ed team to ensure continuity as they move forward. The hope of Krish and the Digi-Ed team is that more students will show an interest so that operations can spread in the future to other geographical areas.
