Inter-House Music Competition
This week it was announced that TISB is putting together an Inter-House Music competition. In the competition middle school and senior school students from Discoverers, Explorers, Pioneers and Voyagers will battle it out in performance and composition categories. Other than House Points being earned through judging criteria, points will be given to all participants and their Houses. The deadline for submissions is on October 18. We reached out to Music Prefect, Krishna from Grade 12, to find out more about the upcoming competition.
We’re organising this competition with the hope that more student musicians can take part in competitive music-making – Krishna, Grade 12, Music Prefect
Krishna, who is a guitarist with an interest in different genres, has great hope for the effects of the competition on students. "As an amateur musician I’ve often found music competitions intimidating, and I’ve found this to be true for many of my fellow musicians at TISB", says Krishna, who planned and initiated the Inter-House Music Competition to encourage more students to make music and take part in competitions.
Therefore, important to this competition is that, although being focused on music, it invites everyone to take part. “There are participation House Points involved! It’s also a great opportunity for you to showcase your skills to the school and perform on a public platform”, says Krishna, who thinks that everyone should take part – regardless of level of musical ability. “Even if you don’t think you can win, taking part and competing is the most important thing."
This year’s Inter-House Music competition has something special in store. “It’s not often that budding composers in India can compete against each other”, says Krishna, who is looking forward to hearing the up to 15 minutes long compositions that the students will produce and submit before October 18.
