Watch the Inter House Music Competition
The results from the Inter House Music Competition were compiled and published a couple of weeks ago, and now the final production with the performances has been compiled and published on YouTube and Instagram. The Inter House Music Competition received many contributions from both Junior (Grades 6-8) and Senior (Grades 9-12) students, and this year’s competition had a new category with students’ own compositions. We reached out to the organiser and Music Prefect, Krishna in Grade 12, to find out more about the competition.
I'm really looking forward to more in-person opportunities next term or next year for student performances – Krishna, Grade 12, Music Prefect
Mr Olav, Mr Anand and Ms Shamini from the Music Department judged the contributions and based on a set of criteria they assessed and presented the winning contributions. For this year’s competition, Krishna feels that many students were confident in their performances, and he believes that because the competition was online played a part. “I also think that Music students at TISB have been gaining confidence from the many class performances and concerts that have been taking place over the last year”, says Krishna, who found the good quality of performances to be the same between Juniors and Seniors. "We have some very talented musicians from lower grades who put in a lot of effort, not just into the performance but also creating a good quality recording and having a fantastic virtual stage presence.”
Although not receiving as many student compositions as expected for the new category, Krishna feels that this is a first step to encourage TISB students to present their own musical creations. “Some of the compositions we received were really impressive”, he says, and he hopes that in the future more people will take part and present their creations.
