Being from Kolkata, Ms Ritu graduated from Calcutta University where she studied finance and commerce. As an adult she moved to and lived in Europe and North Africa, before calling Bangalore her home. Being passionate about education and teaching, Ms Ritu chose to pursue a career as an educator and completed the Montessori Teachers Training. We reached out to Ms Ritu to find out more about her passion for education and teaching.

I want them to think not only about 'I' or 'me', but 'we' – Ms Ritu, Grade 3 Teacher, Topic Subject Leader

Ms Ritu has been working with education and different age groups for more than 25 years – in India and abroad. Being an IB PYP Certified Teacher, she has gained experience from teaching three different curriculums in five countries. Joining TISB in 2017, Ms Ritu takes great pleasure in being part of the TISB family, and being able to contribute to the development: “Along with the natural greenery, I like this place for the culmination of efforts of intellectual minds from different cultures, nationalities and backgrounds, who are committed to collaborating with their creative ideas and shaping the future.”

Ms Ritu believes that the most challenging task in education is to teach students how to learn. “The pleasure of providing an ‘AHA!-moment’ in a child’s learning journey, and witnessing happy faces of accomplishments are incomparable”, she says, and wants her students to think globally. “Since we are so well connected, we need to stay informed about what is happening around the world”, says Ms Ritu, who encourages her students to join hands with people to save our planet. She strives to create an atmosphere where students are confident to discover and learn new things by combining the best of virtual and in-person learning experiences.
