Specialist Portrait – Ms Supriya
In the beautiful hills of Nagaland in the North East of India, TISB’s Human Resources specialist, Ms Supriya, was born and raised. After her graduation and professional training, she joined the Tata group before moving to Bangalore. Discovering how both parents and educators were passionate about the school, Ms Supriya became engaged with TISB in 2000, 22 years ago. She is now one of the most passionate, most committed and an employee with the longest history at TISB. We contacted Ms Supriya to learn more about her history, her current passion and what she is looking forward to in the future.
It has been a fascinating journey of 22 years growing professionally and personally alongside the school – Ms Supriya, Human Resources
On January the year of 2000, Ms Supriya saw an article from TISB which announced employment opportunities. She wrote a response letter to the school, declaring her interest. “To my surprise, I received an email instantly”, says Ms Supriya, who visited TISB and shared her skillset and ambitions for the future, which offered her the position at the school. Since then, time has gone by with very much happening. “It has been a fascinating journey of 22 years growing professionally and personally alongside the school”, says Ms Supriya, who over the years has had privilege to work with distinguished Principals and fantastic colleagues. “Above all, I must thank the Board for having faith in me and giving me that first opportunity to work at TISB.”
Ms Supriya is passionate about several things at TISB and the school’s campus, including beautiful and well-preserved greenery, diverse, dynamic and well-behaved colleagues and students, along with constant and motivating excitements happening in the school. “I have been encouraged constantly to take on new responsibilities and have been ably guided and encouraged throughout the journey”, says Ms Supriya, who a few years ago picked up her role in the HR section. Similarly, Ms Supriya is smooth and effective: “I never thought HR in a school could go online! However, thanks to the technology it was fascinating to introduce innovative HR processes, from interviewing candidates to completing the induction process and bringing new staff on board.”
Being passionate about interacting with people and being introduced to candidates from all over the world, Ms Supriya is happy to be back at physical school. “I was missing the beautiful campus, interacting with the students and meeting colleagues after two years of the pandemic”, explains Ms Supriya, appreciating bright smiles and positive energies which motivates her. Time has just flown by for her. “It never felt like 22 years, as I kept filling my jar with new experiences and memories”, says Ms Supriya, who has made good friends and seen great students through time. “Students who joined as kids have grown to be responsible adults. My own daughter is in college. There is no greater satisfaction than to know that I may have played a small part in all their successes.”
