The Daya Project – Tackling Discrimination While Winning House Points
TISB students Daya, Aira, Ananya, Shrishti, Aayush and Samika are the team behind The Daya Project – an initiative that aims to spread awareness about and tackle discrimination by taking inspiration from artists, creators, and advocates. As a part of their advocacy combating ableism, they are arranging and holding a month of challenges and webinars throughout the month of February, 2021.
Their second webinar is taking place this Saturday, 20 February 2021, with three speakers: Mr Olav, head of the TISB Music Department; Ms Anuradha Nautiyal, an autism intervention specialist and therapist at the Hope Early Intervention centre; and Ms Nidhi Agrawal, who is currently leading the Special Needs program (CARE) at Chrysalis High School.
“We'll be exploring their views on ableism in education, their personal experiences, and how education systems can adapt to be more inclusive through efforts by students, teachers, and administrators”, says The Daya Project team, who are hoping for it to be an interactive sessions, to allow audience members to ask our speakers questions regarding their ideas and experiences.
The webinar will be held from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on 20 February. House points will be awarded to attendees. People who want to join the webinar, should register through this registration form.
Additionally the team has devised a set of challenges for the month of February, where participants have three options:
