Mr Anand is a French teacher and TISB’s MUN Coordinator, who spends most of his time either discussing world affairs or playing sports. Mr Anand lives on TISB campus with his wife and two children. Mr Anand loves watching films and reading books, while also having a passion for travelling and photography. As an educator, he contributes to developments and results in the French Department, and he is a strong pillar for various Model United Nations (MUN) activities. We reached out to Mr Anand to learn more about him and his experience, vision for the future and, of course, about MUN.

Motivated students along with caring colleagues, make TISB a perfect workplace – Mr Anand, French teacher and MUN Coordinator

Having studied in Kerala and Pondicherry, Mr Anand joined TISB as a French teacher 16 years ago. Being a qualified UGC NET educator, he previously was an Assistant de Langue in Rennes, France, taught at French in Alliance Française and at Sacred Heart College, Kerala. He has recently completed his PGCEI from the University of Nottingham, UK.

In addition to teaching French and Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Mr Anand is the House Master of the Pioneers, and Faculty Advisor of MUN at TISB. “When I see that my students understand and implement what has been taught, and their success in life, it makes me proud”, says Mr Anand, who this academic year is looking forward to proactively engage students in online lessons, celebrate French festivals with students and to motivate delegates in MUN to debate.

Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN)

The HMUN is a conference which is chaired by Harvard University students. It is one the most prestigious and competitive annual MUN conferences for high school students in India. This year, 14 TISB students are taking part in HMUN India. A few of TISB’s more experienced delegates have also been selected as Assistant Directors at the conference.

Mr Anand believes that MUN improves one’s research skills and keeps one updated with current affairs; it provides knowledge on world history, politics and to approach a problem from others perspective. He also highlights that MUN helps to improve confidence in public speaking and sharpens one’s leadership skills. “Where else do you think you can get this opportunity to help resolve world related problems with others?”, asks Mr Anand, who believes that every TISB student will grow and become influential in different fields – bringing themselves and societies to greater heights. Therefore, Mr Anand recommends everyone “to be humble, to remember your roots and to see yourself as a part of the larger caring society”.
