Through my journey in the theatre and teaching world, I have learnt a lot about myself – Ms Sathya, Head of the Drama Department
Ms Sathya has been working as a theatre practitioner for the past 22 years. Striving for knowledge of theatre, she has had a long journey and moved from university to university for 12 years, while specialising in different areas of the theatre world. “Learning and teaching the young generation, with lots of commitment and passion, has provided me endless breaks to discover my style of theatre”, says Ms Sathya, who is working her third year at TISB. “My students at TISB, and teaching them, has always helped me to bring more energy and passion to my profession”, says Ms Sathya, who feels that working with the school has given her opportunities to learn and to explore her practice further.
Being Head of the Drama Department, Ms Sathya envisions many possibilities for the future. “Being a theatre educator, I am able to engage all my students in their learning. I think I can inspire my students, which motivates and challenge them”, says Ms Sathya, who is looking forward to further connecting with students, collaborating with other departments and doing interdisciplinary work. By doing so, she sees possibilities for many students in both middle- and senior school to engage in courses and projects, to get inspired, motivated, and broaden and deepen their learning.
