I got an entire section of Grade 4 to play Octopus's Garden by The Beatles on the ukulele – Mr Anand, Music Teacher
Mr Anand has been working with music for about six years. Being a passionate musician, he has also been educating others in music for five years, working his third year at TISB. Recently he composed, recorded, produced and released a new song, titled ‘Mid Summer Gloom’ (Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music).
Working at TISB, Mr Anand likes the relationships formed at the school. “The best part about working at TISB is that I get to work with very supportive, dedicated and compassionate people – both students and teachers”, says Mr Anand, whose favourite moment so far at TISB was when he had 25 Grade 4 students on the ukulele learning the ‘Octopus's Garden’ by The Beatles, and the students did a spectacular job.
Moving forward, Mr Anand is especially looking forward to meeting and interacting with the students in physical school. “As a musician and a music teacher, I really feel there is something special to witness when the students are able to collaborate and create live”, says Mr Anand, explaining that although students have been able to collaborate online, there is a certain level of excitement and creativity that happens when students and teachers gets together in a music hall in real life – even while being in tune with health and safety protocols.
