A Winning Poem about Real Beauty
Veruschka in Grade 8 recently received an award for a poem that she submitted to the RobinAge Story Awards (RBSA) and got it published on their website. RobinAge is an award-winning newspaper for children aged between 4 and 15 years. Veruschka is passionate about poetry and has previously published a book titled ‘Tween Twilight: A Symphony of Poems’. We got in touch with Veruschka to learn more about her passion for writing and poetry, and her latest publication.
I was delighted and ecstatic to know about it – Veruschka, Grade 8
Veruschka keeps making her poems, and writing is truly her passion. “I had so many poems in my notes, I realised that I wanted to share my messages and thoughts with the world”, says Veruschka, who found the RBSA competition and immediately began looking through her drafted poems. Receiving the award was merely an added experience. "It really meant a lot to me, and gave me encouragement to keep writing.”
Veruschka has previously had a poem published on the RBSA. “The society we live in today has certain definitions of beauty, and I never liked that idea”, says Veruschka, who wrote the piece when she was 11 years old”, says Veruschka. She wanted to voice her opinion and spread the message that beauty is about being diverse and different, being oneself and everyone is beautiful because everyone is unique. “I realised how only certain things are considered beautiful and others not.”
The obvious choice for Veruschka and her future ahead, is to keep up with the writing. “I truly believe it's one of my true passions, and I want it to stay the same in times ahead”, says Veruschka, whose book 'Tween Twilight' was a bestseller in India in July. “I was also one of the youngest authors invited to the Delhi Book Fair 2021.”
