Being native to the picturesque Himalayan town of Dharamsala, in Himachal Pradesh, Ms Riti grew up as a neighbour of His Holiness Dalai Lama. After high school, Ms Riti moved to Chandigarh to continue her studies in Chemistry at the Panjab University. When having graduated, Ms Riti went into Research and Development, and analytics at several laboratories in Hyderabad, before she found that her passion is to inspire young people and switched to teaching. We met up with Ms Riti to learn more about her and her passions.

The opportunity to help young people through PSHME program give me immense satisfaction – Ms Riti, Chemistry Teacher and Head of PSHME Department

Since switching path in her life to teaching, Ms Riti has been educating and inspiring young minds for over eight years. Currently she is on her fifth year at TISB, and she is very pleased being part of a bubbling global community. “And above all, cheerful, self-driven and courteous students keep you engaged with positivity all the time”, says Ms Riti, who is motivated by the enthusiasm and excellence. This is especially true for students when they take on new steppingstones, where Ms Riti feels great about the “appreciation and the love from the students at the end of their IGCSE and IB course.”

Giving students their results, is only one part of education. “Seeing the progression in students, mentally and physically, and how they are becoming global citizens – accepting the challenges in their own lives and around them – is the greatest part of being a teacher”, says Ms Riti, who would like to see more students drawing parallels between their academics and help and guide their younger friends to bring awareness about current and future issues, for example, environmental issues and LGBTQ rights. “How to the recognise, plan for and deal with current issues in the world is an excellent way for the students to broaden their academics and apply it to real life."
