Being a true Bangalorian, Ms Shalini was born and raised in Bangalore, where she also graduated with her teaching diploma. Being passionate about education and the shaping of citizens in a modern world, Ms Shalini has been on her teaching journey with young children in Primary Years for 26 years. We got in touch with Ms Shalini to find out more about her and her vision for students and for the future.

The highlight of my work is when I see the enthusiasm in my children, their energy to come to my class and leave it happy at the end of the day – Ms Shalini, Teacher Pre-KG

During her teaching career, Ms Shalini has spent 14 years at TISB. She has learnt from her students that “some of the best teaching is done when you stop teaching and follow a child's lead”, says Ms Shalini. During her time at TISB she has observed numerous initiatives take place with a great deal of energy, enthusiasm and passion. “I have enjoyed working with my colleagues, who have become my good friends” says Ms Shalini, who is proud and honoured to be part of TISB and working with the management team composed with educators.

However, the best thing about working with teaching for Ms Shalini is her students. “Children’s window to learning opens only when they are happy and enthusiastic. This eagerness will hopefully remain through their learning journey”, says Ms Shalini, who’s proudest moments in life has been when meeting her previous students who share their accomplishments. She is looking forward to building the future of the world through education: “We want our children to enter the world with an understanding of what it takes to be a good citizen; one who can develop critically thinking, be digitally literate, globally aware, and an effective communicator. In short, prepare the child for the 21st century.”
