Teacher Portrait – Ms Shruthi

Being born and raised in Bangalore, Ms Shruthi, PY Science teacher, took her Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology. Passionate about food and bakery, she moved to the US to complete her Master’s degree and worked in the food industry with Research & Development, creating several ready to eat foods for the US market. We got in touch with Ms Shruthi to learn more about her and her vision, being part of the PY Charity and Environmental Committee.

Joining TISB in March 2020, Ms Shruthi has mainly been online. But this has not stopped her from enjoying the TISB community and the company of her students: “Kick starting my teaching career online due to the pandemic did not stop me from building bonds with my students”, says Ms Shruthi. “I am truly proud of the relationships that I have built with them and only look forward to better times back in physical school.”  

Being part of the Charity and Environmental in PY, Ms Shruthi sees it as an opportunity to – not only develop society and the world – but also affect the motivation and learning of the students: “I believe that charity encourages the growth of generosity among students and is very important to harness a sense of community. Students working together towards a greater cause can have a tremendous impact for a better future.”

What is your favourite food? 
Thai fried rice.  

What is your favourite music? 
Instrumental, especially electric violin. 

What is your favourite book? 
Books by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would be an all-time favourite. 

What is your favourite animal? 
Dogs! I am a mum to 3 🙂  

What is your favourite colour?  
White. 

What is your favourite hobby? 
Baking is my biggest stress buster. I love experimenting with recipes and developing my own. I am currently experimenting with all kinds of pies and breads!
