Grade 12 student receives recognition from Honorable Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu
Grade 12 student, Rithvik, has received worthy recognition for the immuNation VRS app he has developed.
Rithvik said "I started this project 3 years ago while working as a volunteer in a rural hospital where I realized that a lot of parents in rural and poor communities forget the vaccination due dates of their children."
The immuNation VRS (Vaccination Reminder Service) sends an SMS reminder to parents of newborn babies which will ensure that more children in India are vaccinated.
What makes immuNation VRS so unique is that the SMS reminders can be sent in 9 regional Indian languages and it is 100% free. These qualities have been specifically acknowledged by the Secretary - Dept of Biotechnology, Government of India Dr. Renu Swarup and former Director General CSIR - Padma Vibhushan Dr.Mashelkar.
The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu praised Rithvik's efforts and said immuNation VRS is "simple yet powerful". This is praise indeed.
Rithvik added "a lot of the progress I made in this project was inspired by my experiences here at TISB. I'd like to give credit where credit is due and give my sincerest appreciation to the school and the teachers that supported me. The great emphasis that the school places on extracurricular activities and CAS inculcate the will to serve in many of the students here, and I feel I was one of them. Again, thank you very much."
Dr Caroline congratulated Rithvik on his achievement and said "I hope you are proud of the opportunity and acknowledgement you received. Congratulations."
