Wellbeing is a topic that is without doubt important to us at TISB; for our students, staff and the TISB community as a whole. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the closing of schools and other social meeting places, life for students, parents and teachers has changed drastically.

During our Coffee Catch-Up meetings with parents carried out this week Grade by Grade across the entire school, student wellbeing has been highlighted as a premium concern, especially since students are exposed to long hours of continuous screen time and are away from their friends and the TISB school environment.

At TISB we listen to our parents and are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a series of wellbeing sessions throughout September to support and guide our parental body during this exceptional time of separation and confinement to home. If you are a student or a parent in the TISB community, keep an eye on your email for more information and a joining invitation.

In last week’s newsletter, 21 August 2020, we highlighted some student-led fitness and exercise initiatives that have been shared with us. As this week’s Spotlight is focussed on our ongoing wellbeing initiatives, here are a few examples of what is going on in the TISB student body with regards to mental wellbeing:

- Mind Matters Magazine is a student-led magazine that addresses issues surrounding psychology, neuroscience, brain research, regenerative medicine, genetics, neurorobotics, neurology, and many other cognitive science topics. The magazine takes student contributions and features a talk series with experts on Mind Matters. To read the first issue of Mind Matters Magazine, CLICK HERE. The magazine also has an Instagram account CLICK HERE where you can easily find information and updates on the magazine.

- The Book of Wellness is an initiative by a 16-year-old United Nations Speaker and Mental Health Advocate, Aaryani, and Umaa Arun - a Transformation Life Coach. The highlight of this book are the self-reflection exercises that help you apply useful strategies to your own life and identify areas of improvement. “Food for Thought and Food for the Hungry” is the two-pronged purpose of 'The Book of Wellness'. To obtain your copy of the e-book CLICK HERE. Please donate a minimum of INR 100, there’s no maximum limit. All the proceeds from the e-book go to the MCKS Food for The Hungry Foundation.

Last year a couple of our Grade 12 students started a TISB Mental Health Fund and raised Rs. 60,000 during the concert ‘Sound of Mind’. The fund is open to all TISB students who can apply for grants to further the mental wellbeing of students on and off campus. To watch the video recording of the concert, CLICK HERE.
