Spotlight – Global Day of Parents
The UN General Assembly declared and arranged the ‘Global Day of Parents’ in 2012. Since then it has been held annually on June 1 to honor parents all around the world. Although many times being taken for granted, being a parent is not always an easy thing to do – having challenges even before children are born. Therefore the day is observed annually to honour and appreciate parents across the world for their selfless commitments and lifelong sacrifice towards their children.
Appreciating all parents throughout the world is the central aspect of the annual day. For the complete and harmonious development of children’s personalities, they should always grow up in an environment and in an atmosphere of happiness, close familiarity and friendship, and a common and complete understanding.
At TISB we obviously have many children, and many of the teachers are parents as well. For an example of this, read Mr Naveen’s Teacher Portrait, where the Global Day of Parents is featured and he gives the easiest, but sometimes the most forgotten, aspect of parenting.
Although it is the end of the term and the academic year, PY Swimming Gala took place, with children from Pre-KG all the way to Grade 5 were taking part in the pool. Many parents were able to visit and gratefully show their passionate interest and support to all the children. The support and encouragement was no doubt one of the best way to celebrate the Global Day of Parents, as well as heartening the great behaviour among all of us.
Next week we have more chances for parents to participate and celebrate their honour of being a great parent. We look forward to seeing you at the Middle School Showcase with Grades 6 to 8 on the 9 June, and at the PY Gala and Grade 5 Graduation.
