Spotlight – Flag Hoisting

Head Boy and Head Girl, Rohan and Shrishti, recently were allowed to physically introduce sporting events. Here is their story about what happened.

The pandemic brought so many things to a halt, including a vast majority of school events. The camaraderie and community were something we were aching for sitting at home. Luckily, as school physically reopened a month ago, we were informed about the numerous sporting events taking place.  

One of the pinnacles of being the Head Boy and the Head Girl is screaming “School Attention” and while we were forced to have a recording of the inauguration of the sports day. The feeling was surreal. United with the house captains, we practiced a couple of the commands with Mr Tarun, and before you knew it we were reciting the Oath.   

Despite not having the entire school physically present, we could envision each one of them standing in the center of the cricket pavilion in attention.  

The feeling of hoisting the flag, something we had dreamed of doing for a while, had finally become a reality. Interestingly, none of us wanted to leave the pavilion, where we had stood for many years following our captains during the march past.  

The feeling was unreal.
