Spotlight – New Gym and Training Equipment
Sport, gym and Physical Education are happening daily in school. When back in physical school, the PE department are enjoying their real-life possibilities and are offering students opportunities to develop their physical skills and health potential. This goes for students in all grades, from Pre-KG to students in the senior grades who have the chance to make use of new and updated gym equipment. We reached out to Mr Tarun, who wrote the following about the recently updated training areas.
Sport is part and parcel of any school’s center of excellence, and keeping this in mind PE department, with support of Senior Leadership Team members, were striving hard to improve our weight training facilities. The usage of the present weight training room has increased immensely over the years. Students in the senior grades have, with the support of the Physical Education Department, realised the importance of fitness and wellbeing.
Also, our present batch of IGPE students have chosen weight training as one of their activities. As evidence, the candidates will be filmed and recorded with the video being sent to the IGSE Board for grading purposes. It is a very good sign that many students are working on their strength which is very essential in the present sports scenario. This will enhance their sports performance and minimise sports injuries to a large extent.
We have future plans to provide advice to students on one-to-one basis on strength training specific to a particular sport in order to improve performance.
