This year, TISB student Rohan had the opportunity to be a part of TYE’s 2019-20 cohort. TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE) is a Global Program fostering the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders. The program helps high school students, Grades 9-12, and encourages them to learn entrepreneurial skills, invention and innovation.

Through a 12-week program, students experienced curricular learning on a range of topics from introduction to entrepreneurship, customer empathy and design thinking, rapid prototyping, team building, startup math, lean canvas and presentation skills.

This year, Rohan and his team, including Ved from Grade 10, participated in TYE 2019-20 and their startup 'Vox Populi' - aimed at providing a platform to integrate the ration system with complaints. Rohan led the team as the CEO and Chief Strategy Officer. Vox Populi is a service that they felt is needed in the cities of today. The service provides a conducive and unregulated platform for local governance bodies and their citizens to interact. People can voice their concerns, express opinions and discuss the impact of government policies. The government can test the impact of some of these policies before enacting them. The hope is that overall community spirit and growth will prosper through this.

The Vox Populi team were winners at the Bangalore chapter level and made it to the global TYE finals. There were 24 teams across many countries in the final round; and the team ended up winning a $250 dollar prize for business model. However, more importantly, they gained experience and exposure whose value cannot be quantified. The TYE Bangalore chapter is now enabling the team to continue and further build on their product by extending the feature set, leverage blockchain technology, etc. and secure funding from social impact investors. Overall this has been a great experience for Rohan and has left a lasting impression on him.
