TISB Intra-MUN is Coming Soon
It is time for TISB’s annual in-house event, Intra-MUN, that is arranged and hosted by TISB students, for TISB students. The annual happening is open for students between Grades 6 to 12, who will participate in two committees during the event. Participating in the MUN event gives students a chance to tackle and debate real world problems and issues, giving them an opportunity to explore and build an interest in MUN activities, while at the same time developing their 21st century skills. We reached out to Grade 11 student and one of the organisers of the event, Aayush, to learn more.
Intra-MUN is an incredible opportunity to open your eyes to geopolitical, economic and humanitarian crises and learn more about the world – Aayush, Grade 11
The annual TISB Intra-MUN event, a student-led initiative for students in TISB in Grades 6 to 12, is back and will take place on the 9, 16 and 23 February. The conference is organised into two committees. Firstly, there is the ‘Historic Security Council (HSC)’, with an agenda where Senior students from grades 9-12 address the Nigerian Civil war of 1967. Secondly, there is the ‘United Nations Counter Terrorism Committee (UNCTC)’, where Middle School students from Grades 6-8 treat issues of radical religious terrorism.
MUN allows participants to explore and learn about real world issues, cooperation and creativity while debating pertinent problems we face. “During Intra-MUN students will debate on a wide range of topics related to their agenda from terrorist tactics to peaceful negotiations. This exposure will be invaluable for attending future MUNs”, says Aayush. Thus, one of the main purposes of the conference is to provides students with an opportunity to learn more about MUN from more experienced peers at TISB; allowing them to gain experience and learn more about the MUN process in a more enriching and supportive environment. “Unlike TISBMUN Jr and Sr, which is a more of a competitive environment, Intra-MUN allows students gain knowledge by experience and provides them with an opportunity to excel at larger conferences”, explains Aayush who encourage all students, regardless of previous MUN experience, to sign up to the event and learn from real life issues and to earn House Points for their houses.
Registrations to the Intra-MUN event are open until 31 January. To register click the link to the MS Form.
