Winner of the Stonehill International MUN
TISB Grade 9 student, Gautam, recently was awarded United Nations Security Council Best Delegate when representing Canada in the Stonehill International School MUN (SISMUN). We got in touch with Gautam to find out more about the event and why he likes taking part in MUN events.

The SISMUN conference that was held between the 5 and 6 February 2021 on the platform ‘Discord’. It was not the first time that Gautam attended an MUN event, but the first time where his preparations payed off. “The I won the Best Delegate award and its incredibly special for me because it is the first time I have won this award”, says Gautam who spent time preparing for the SISMUN event.
The participants of the event were in the age category 14 to 18 years, and were from all over India. Gautam represented the delegate of Canada in United nations Security Council, and discussed issues on nuclear proliferation and government controlled social data. “I am really interested in MUN because it helped to develop better problem-solving skills and increase my social networking and building connections”, says Gautam who is interested in adding to his character in terms of diplomacy skills.
Gautam will continue looking for more MUN activities and will be sure to sign up if he come across any. Gautam concludes with an encouragement to other students: “I would like to encourage others as well to sign up for more MUNs as it might impact others as it had helped me”.
