Clash of Pi
TISB students Shivatmica and Prahit from Grade 9 have recently been awarded certificates for taking part in the international mathematics contest the ‘Clash of Pi’. The competition is shaped in smaller segments that takes place recurrently online, and 300,000 students from 16 countries have participated in the competition. We got a hold of Prahit to learn more about their competition journey.
I found that it was fun and challenged me, so I decided to continue working on the tests – Prahit, Grade 9.
The mathematics competition Clash of Pi is open for students in Grades 3 to 12 each year. Sessions take place three times per month, with a pause in March. Each test is 15 minutes long and can give a maximum of 150 points each time. The first two tests are qualifiers and the last is known as the final. There are also mock exams and other resources in Clash of Pi.
“The tests are interesting as there is a different category each month like probability, algebra and so on”, says Prahit who became aware of the competition through his Maths teacher who mentioned it in class. “I also believe the competition will slowly become better and more enjoyable over time, says Prahit, who believes that this will lead to more students participating from even more countries in the future.
