TISB's Annual Photography Competition
Students in Grades 4 to 12 are now welcome to participate in TISB’s Annual Photography Competition. Last year the competition was cancelled due to the pandemic and the accompanying lockdown and immobility. The last time the competition was held in 2019, Mahima, now in Grade 10, won the competition together with graduated Yash. We reached out to Mr Benny, Head of the Library Department, to find out more about the importance of the competition.
Photography is a powerful medium of expression that can be used to communicate strong positive messages about a subject – Mr Benny, Head of Library Department
With enough time before the final entry date, this competition provides the an opportunity for students to practice their skills in different areas of photography. “TISB Annual Photography Competition seeks to inspire the creation and dissemination of such positive imagery, which conveys the beauty and importance of this world and our relation to it”, says Mr Benny, and explains that a competition like this one takes us out of our comfort zones and helps us to focus our minds. “It’s a great way to gain exposure. You can also see other students’ entries and become inspired.”
The competition accept different categories of picture, such as abstract, architecture, fine art, landscape, photojournalism, portrait, street, wildlife. etc. Students can use any type of camera or mobile phone to take their photos in both colour or black and white. Submitted photos must be the work of the participant. Post-production and digital manipulation are not allowed. Submissions are allowed until 21 October, and all winners will receive a Principal’s Commendation.
