Divided into two teams, TISB Grade 11 students, Juhan, Amogh, Arjun, Shrey, Aanya and Srishti participated in this year’s Infinity Mathematics Competition. Infinity is an annual Inter-School Mathematics Competition organised by Aditya Birla World Academy in association with BITS Pilani. The competition has been ongoing since 2014, and is designed and open for students in Grades 10-12 who are from schools affiliated to any Board of Education.

Some key objectives of designing this competition include, developing the capacity and thinking skills of students, whose values goes beyond mathematics; to formulate questions and rounds that constitute effective ways of discovering and nurturing mathematical talent; and to help students combat the prevalent false image of mathematics being a rather difficult or dull and tedious subject. This year the Infinity Mathematics Competition saw participation from 34 schools across the globe. As a result, this year’s competition was divided into two levels: the Zonal level, which was further divided as National Zonal and International Zonal, and followed by the Finals level – with participants comprising only the winning teams from the Zonal level.

The two teams from TISB participating in the competition this year, won recognitions both as teams and individuals and qualified for the final rounds scheduled for January 2021. In a competition with 189 teams, both of the teams representing TISB were awarded placement in the top 50 this year. Grade 11 students Juhan and Amogh won recognitions as top 'Mathematicians of the zone'. Both TISB teams won 'Math Challengers of the zones' awards.

We look forward to following the two teams of students in the Finals in January, 2021. If you would like to know more about the competition and the results of our TISB Mathematicians, visit the Infinity Mathematics Competition’s website.
